Memorial Day Open House
This annual Open House is a great opportunity to spend some low-key time on the land, and to learn more about natural green burial and White Eagle.
10am-4pm Monday, May 31st
We gather in the Ekone Ranch valley to begin the day, then walk or drive out to White Eagle. WEMP stewards will host guided tours leaving from the kiosk in the parking area at 11:30am and 2pm.
This event is free, and we provide a sack lunch, but please bring your own snacks if you need them, and let us know about dietary considerations when you RSVP.
No camp out this year - fingers crossed for 2022!
Please leave your dog friends at home for this event.
RSVP with Jodie (whiteeagle at ekone dot org), and you will receive an email with more information the week before the event.
Sites purchased in conjunction with this event receive a 10% discount.
Grave Prep Work Party
Our grave digging work party is a great opportunity to support White Eagle work, and to learn more about conservation burial. We will split up into small groups to grid and prepare a handful of grave places, with morning and evening sessions, and some time during the afternoon to be quiet on the land or pitch in with garden tending.
Please bring gloves, and shovels if you have them, sturdy boots, and sunglasses or other eye protection. There will be some indoor sleeping spaces available, as well as plenty of places to tent camp. We will provide dinner on Friday evening, all meals on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday morning. Please visit the Work Parties page on the Ekone site for more detailed logistics information. Please RSVP with Michelle (at) ekone.org
November 6th, 2021 - Tentative Date
All Souls Day Work Party and Ceremony
This gathering in service to the land and the spirits of our loved ones is a yearly tradition.
Join us for some productive time together on the land Saturday November 6th, 10am – 4pm.
We gather in the lodge to begin the day together, then split into smaller groups for project work, to prepare the burial ground for winter.
We’ll share a fire circle lunch of soup and soul cakes, and then some Ceremony around the fire and quiet time on the land for reflection.
Wear sturdy work clothes, bring gloves and hand tools, and objects of remembrance for our Lodge altar and the Ceremony blanket.
WEMP stewards will be available to answer questions about natural burial.

Throughout the year:
These weekends, held once a month (except during summer camp season), are a lovely way to get to know the community and do conservation, forestry, and garden projects on the land. Work Parties start at 5pm on Friday, with dinner and an overview of the weekend, then Saturday is full of service projects, with shared meals and evening relaxation time. Sunday breakfast is followed by more project work, and then folks head back into the world, hopefully fueled up with inspiration and satisfaction of work well done!
If you’d like to be on the Work Party email list or to RSVP for a particular work party weekend, please email Shonie at email@example.com.
